  10. This program is being published as shareware. This means you get the chance
  11. to use the program for up to 30 days, free of charge. If you decide to use
  12. the program after the initial 30 days, you are required to register it with
  13. the author..... me!

  15. This program is of the highest quality, fully functional, and as bug-free 
  16. as possible. While that was a task in itself, it did involve quite a bit of 
  17. my time to bring you this software. Hence, we authors appreciate your 
  18. patronage and the small registration fee which is depending on the product
  19. you want to license:

  21. SPTEST - $20.00 - Serial port Diagnostic
  22. LPTRST - $15.00 - Parallel port/printer status detection
  23. LETTER - $10.00 - How many drive letters are assigned
  24. CATDOS - $25.00 - FoxPro v2.0 application to convert CIS catalogs
  25.                     into standard xBase database files (DBF's).
  26. CATWIN - $25.00 - FoxPro/Win v2.5, or higher, version of CATDOS

  29. Registering the product will get you the following:

  40. Terms of Support
  41. BCI Associates will actively support any _registered_ user of our products
  42. with either CompuServe email or telephone support. This does not, however,
  43. include troubleshooting your hardware and/or software problems not directly 
  44. related to our products. If you need such support, BCI Associates offers
  45. that support as a separate chargeable item. Contact BCI Associates at the
  46. methods above if you desire this additional support.

  49. Program Updates
  50.  
  51. BCI Associates updates their products periodically to support new features
  52. and functions. When these updates occur, we post them on the CompuServe
  53. Information Service, and on the ZiffNet Information Service which can be
  54. accessed either thru CompuServe, or directly into ZiffNet. Users may go to
  55. a number of forums to download the software, or BCI Associates will email
  56. the update directly to them thru CompuServe Mail as a binary transfer.

  58. For those users obtaining BCI Associates products via bulletin boards, or
  59. in any non-CompuServe medium, we will mail the update for a nominal handling
  60. fee of $5.00 per update.

  62. Each registered user will recieve 2 updates in between major releases. The
  63. cost of these updates will be 30% of the original cost of the product plus
  64. any mailing fees, if required. When major new releases are issued, it is
  65. treated as if it was newly posted. The new fee would be announced at that
  66. time.

  68. Example:  User registers SPTEST. Initial fee is $20; each of the 2 updates
  69.                 recieved would cost $6 (30% of the initial fee) plus any
  70.                 mailing costs.

  73. Online registering with CompuServe
  74.  
  75. CompuServe offers an online registering of programs. You may register thru
  76. them for any of our products, or send payment directly to us. Checks or
  77. Money Orders drawn upon a US bank is accepted. Pennslyvania residents add 6%
  78. state tax. If you choose to register the product online, you will be billed
  79. to your CompuServe account for the amount of the product. The cost of the
  80. updates are not reflected in the online cost. You should send update fees
  81. directly to us at the address above as CompuServe charges you for the whole
  82. product, not updates. To register the product online, enter 'GO CIS:SWREG'
  83. and follow the prompts to register, and use the following ID numbers for the
  84. appropriate product:

  96. BCI Associates warrants that this program will perform the task to which it
  97. was specifically designed to do. This software is licensed on an AS-IS basis.
  98. BCI disclaims all other warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the
  99. fitness or merchantability of the software for any other useage. In no way
  100. will BCI be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential
  101. damages resulting from a defect in the software.

  103. Some avenues of recourse do not allow the exclusion of limitation of implied
  104. warranties of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the
  105. above limitaions may not apply to you.

  107. Licensing terms
  108.  
  109. Paying the above license fee allows use of the software on _one_ PC only.
  110. Additional licenses are available by contacting BCI Associates for discount
  111. rates. If this software is to be used on a network, it must be licensed on
  112. a per-user basis. You may not sub-license the software, assign, or transfer
  113. the software/license except as expressly granted by this paragraph.

  115. To transfer the software, you (the licensee) must give the software, any
  116. archives you have made, the documents (paper or electronic), and any other
  117. associated files to the new owner. Then, you must contact BCI Associates and
  118. inform them of the old/new owners of the software to continue proper
  119. registration. Any deviation of this policy will be considered piracy of the
  120. product. When notifying BCI Associates, include the name, complete address,
  121. software title and version number of both old and new owners. That's all
  122. there is to it! No other fees or anything.
